We recommend that shoes in smooth leather is treated with protector spray 2-3 times before use.

 If you use the shoes every day, you should treat them with protector spray every 14 days – especially boots. Stains on the leather can be removed with a moist cloth or cleaned with combi cleaner.

To refresh the color and moisturize the skin, use shoe cream. For black shoes we recommend black shoe creme, while leather in other colors can be maintained with matching color or a neutral shoe cream.

If it needs to go fast, you can use a shoeshine sponge for a quick refresh. Shoeshine and combi cleaner cannot replace shoe care with shoe creme.

You can also use leather grease, but since leather grease and shoe cream do not mix well, you should choose either or. However, the leather can become a bit darker once it has been greased with leather grease and you do not need to use protector spray, as the leather grease gives a protective membrane around the leather. 

If you use the shoes every day, you should furthermore treat them with protector spray every 14 days – especially boots. Do not wipe suede or nubuck with a damp cloth, instead, let the shoe dry and brush away the dirt with a shoe brush – if it is not enough you can use a combi cleaner which cleans in depth and removes most contaminated stains. Then use velours liquid and/or protector spray.

Clean suede and nubuck with suede velours liquid to refresh the color and moisturize the material. Carefully apply the liquid with the sponge on top of the bottle. Use suede velours liquid when the shoes need a color refreshing - eg. the tip of the shoe which is often more exposed.

The glitter is fixed on top of a piece of canvas with a leather lining on the back. The shoe should have no care products or protector spray, as the glitter and canvas itself are partially water-repellent and protector spray or other care products can make the glitter cloudy. If there is a little dirt on the shoes, you can quite gently use a damp cloth to wipe it away.

Glitter residues from production can be sprinkled off a bit during the first days of use. The surface is delicate by direct contact with hard abrasive surfaces as well as shocks or impacts or other inappropriate use.

Canvas / textile is more delicate than leather shoes. It is therefore important to protect shoes in canvas/textile with protector spray. It is important to hold the protector spray at a good distance, approx. 30 cm. from the shoe so that no stains come from the impregnation liquid.

Our rain boots are made of 100% natural rubber and should be regularly cared for with rubber boot care, e.g. a silicone product that ensures that dirt, salt and other cannot work their way into the natural rubber and discolour the rubber boot. At the same time, the care extends the life of the boot, as the natural rubber is kept soft and flexible and does not dry in, which can cause cracks or discolorations.

Lack shoes can’t withstand protector spray. 

Lack shoes are easy to maintain. You can use a damp cloth to remove dirt and stains. If extra cleaning is required, you can use a lack liquid to clean and maintain the shoe. Furthermore, the lack liquid gives the shoes a nice shine. Lack liquid is without color and can be used on all colors. 

You should be aware that if you get a scratch on the surface, you cannot repair / polish the lack - as you often can on a regular leather surface.

Crepe rubber is a natural material that can respond to both heat and cold. Therefore, you should not leave shoes with crepe rubber soles directly in the sun on a summer day - as the sole can melt in extreme heat and become deform.

A crepe rubber sole can become hard and crystallize over time. This can be solved by placing the shoe on a medium heat radiator under supervision for approx. 30-60 minutes, or until they are soft and flexible again.

If the crepe rubber sole gets sticky, it can be repaired by a shoemaker. The shoemaker can remove a thin layer of the crepe rubber sole and then apply talc.

Feet moist differently. Especially winter boots with wool lining and sandals can get very varm inside and the sole moist.

Therefore, you should give your favorite shoes a few days off occasionally, allowing them to dry completely. It gives less odor and a better climate for your feet. 

Leather - like textiles - can rub off som color initially when you wear your shoes.

The amount of excess colour varies and depends on how much moisture/transpiration is released from the foot. The release of excess colour can be most noticeable in the darker colours, but can also be experienced from lighter leather types. The excess colour disappears after some time and is not harmful. We therefore recommend a dark sock to start with, as the excess colour can be evident on white socks. 

Frequent use of an impregnation product can seal off most color stains from leather and protect the leather from moist and water .

You can't wash leather like you wash excess dye out of textiles in a washing machine. But if you want to wash off the excess dye, you can carefully make a solution of 1 part water and 1 part clear household vinegar ( ratio 1:1 ) and with a cloth, wipe the lining inside the shoe or boot, possibly over a few times, to remove the worst excess dye. The method cannot be used for the upper/outer side.

As the season changes and before the shoes are packed away, you should give them a cleaning and maintenance. Then you can look forward to unpacking a beautiful shoe next season. 

Clean the shoes according to the material, described above, and clean the soles as well. When the shoes are dry, they can be packed in a shoe box. A shoe box offers a dry climate and is the best place to store shoes and ensures that the shoe is not squeezed or becomes dusty.

The shoes should optimally be stored at room temperature.
